The vivacious Ms. Wang will also be performing for the children at Muddy Brook Elementary School in  Great Barrington earlier in the week. Such school visits are central to the philosophy of Clarion Concerts, a  presenting organization which has been bringing music to the Hudson Valley/Berkshires for decades.  “Community engagement initiatives are as important to our mission as our concerts,” says Clarion Board  President Dave Hall. “We're delighted that Hanzhi Wang will be helping us reach out to young people in  the Berkshires.”

Hanzhi Wang, Accordion, Candlelight Concert Society. The Candlelight Concert Society began its new season with a wonderful concert “Hanzhi Wang, accordion” at the Smith Theatre at the Horowitz Visual & Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College in Columbia, MD. If anyone can make the accordion sound like it was created to play classical music, it is the talented and young Ms. Wang.

 Hanzhi Wang, the first accordionist to win a place on the roster of Young Concert Artists in its 58-year history, will perform at the University of Alabama at Birmingham on Wednesday, Oct. 2.  The 7 p.m. performance is presented by UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center as part of its ArtPlay Parlor Series. The performance will be in the intimate parlor of the ArtPlay house, 1006 19th St. South. Tickets are $37, $10 for students. Call 205-975-2787 or visit AlysStephens.org.

Tonight the Young Artists Showcase features a studio performance by and conversation with accordionist Hanzhi Wang. The first accordionist to win a place on the roster of Young Concert Artists in the organization's 58-year history, Hanzhi Wang talked about her path to the instrument, and also how it works. Her program featured her own accordion arrangements of Bach, Mozkowski, Mozart, and a piece written for her by Martin Lohse. 

Despite her young age, success follows accordionist Hanzhi Wang. She is the first accordionist to join the roster of Young Concert Artists in its 57-year history, making her debut in New York this past fall. If that wasn’t enough, the record label Naxos released its first-ever solo accordion album, Hanzhi’s On the Path to H.C. Andersen. 

Monday October 22nd, 2018 - Some of my friends eyed me with skepticism when I told then I was going to an accordion recital. But at Zankel Hall this evening, Young Concert Artists opened their 2018-2019 season with Hanzhi Wang giving a remarkable performance. Ms. Wang is the first-ever accordion player in the organization's history to win the YCA auditions.Called back by insistent applause, Ms. Wang offered two encores: Chiquilin de Bachin by Astor Piazzolla, and her own work entitled My Story.

Thursday October 25 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church, Hanzhi Wang was invited to join Sinfonia for the first Silver Sands Premium Outlets’ Classical Connections concert of the 18-19 season,  she performed Piazzolla's "Aconcagua: Concerto for Bandoneon and Orchestra." Praised for her engaging stage presence and performances that are technically and musically brilliant. Ensemble: Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Music & Artistic Director: Demetrius Fuller.

Hanzhi Wang, who made her NYC debut last night at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall, was a delightful surprise, no fretting warranted. From the opening Bach Partita in C-minor (see an earlier performance here) through to pieces written for her by Danish composer Martin Lohse, whose work is at the heart of her first LP (listen on Spotify here), and Sophia Gubaidulina, this was a musician of stunning skill and heart.
